This Policy is an integral supplement to the Privacy Policy and strictly regulates the use of cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar tracking technologies on the rentalistic.com website (hereinafter referred to as the “Site” or “Platform”). By continuing to use the Site and interacting with its interface, the user confirms their informed consent to the use of cookies in accordance with the terms of this document.
1. General Provisions and Technical Definition
- 1.1. Within the scope of this Policy, cookies are defined as small data fragments (text files) that are automatically generated by a web server, downloaded, and stored on the user’s terminal equipment (personal computer, smartphone, tablet, or other device) during each visit to the Site. These files contain encrypted service information that allows the web server to identify the user’s device, track the session status, and save individual settings to ensure the correct and stable operation of the interface.
- 1.2. The cookie technologies applied by the Company are not used to directly identify the user’s identity outside the context of using the Platform (unless the user is logged into the system). Cookies are passive text fragments; they are not executable code, cannot carry computer viruses, do not have access to the hard drive, and do not cause any harm to the software or hardware components of the user’s device.
2. Categories of Used Cookies and Processing Purposes
Depending on their functional purpose, the Platform uses the following categories of cookies:
- 2.1. Technical (Strictly Necessary) Cookies: This category of files is critical for ensuring the basic functionality and uninterrupted operation of the platform (which runs on the WordPress CMS). They provide, including but not limited to: maintaining an active and secure user session after logging into the Personal Account, correct traffic routing, securing payment transactions (via viva.com gateways), preventing CSRF attacks, retaining the contents of the booking cart across different steps of processing, and remembering selected language settings. Since these files are absolutely necessary to provide the services requested by the user, they do not require prior consent and cannot be disabled within the Site’s systems. Disabling these files via a browser may result in the complete or partial inoperability of the services.
- 2.2. Analytical and Statistical Cookies: To deeply analyze the performance of the Platform and continuously improve the user experience (UX), the Company implements analytical technologies. They are used to collect anonymized information on how users interact with the Site: counting unique visits, identifying the most popular real estate objects, measuring time spent on a page, and detecting technical errors or navigation issues. To achieve these goals, external, highly reliable analytical tools are used (specifically Google Analytics, Yandex.Metrica, and Hotjar), which collect and process data in a strictly aggregated (generalized) form, without binding it to a specific user’s identity.
- 2.3. Advertising (Marketing) Cookies and Tracking Pixels: To increase the relevance of marketing communications and personalize offers, the Company uses targeted cookies and web beacons (specifically Meta/Facebook Pixel and Google Ads). These technologies allow the Platform and its advertising partners to adapt advertisements to the user’s revealed interests, limit the number of times the same advertisement is displayed, and objectively evaluate the conversion and effectiveness of marketing campaigns (including retargeting technologies). Information collected through these files may be transmitted in an encrypted form to the Company’s certified advertising partners.
3. Retention Periods and Duration Classification
Depending on the duration of their lifecycle, cookies placed by the Site are divided into two main groups:
- 3.1. Session (Temporary) Cookies: These are exclusively temporary files that are automatically erased from the user device’s volatile memory immediately after the end of the current session (closing the tab or the web browser). They are necessary for temporarily remembering actions within a single session (for example, when moving between booking steps).
- 3.2. Persistent Cookies: These are stored on the hard drive of the user’s device for a clearly defined period specified in the parameters of the file itself (the period can vary from 30 days to 2 years) or until they are forcibly removed by the user manually. These files are activated upon each repeat visit to the Site, enabling the interface to “recognize” the user’s device without requiring the re-entry of basic settings (for instance, by hiding the cookie consent banner after it has been initially accepted).
4. Managing Settings and Opting Out
- 4.1. The user possesses an unconditional right to prohibit the storage of new cookies at any time, as well as to view or delete already stored files using the standard security settings of their web browser. Most modern browsers (Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge) allow flexible management of tracking rules: blocking all cookies, accepting only first-party cookies, or completely blocking third-party cookies.
- 4.2. The Company officially warns that pre-emptively blocking strictly necessary (technical) cookies will inevitably result in the disruption of the operational logic of key Site functions. This includes the complete inability to log into a secure account, the resetting of search parameters, or the inability to complete the online booking and payment process. In the event of such disruptions caused by cookie blocking on the user’s side, the Company bears no liability for the incorrect operation of the service.
5. Final Provisions
- 5.1. The Company reserves the exclusive right to make amendments and supplements to this Policy due to updates to the software functionality of the Site, the integration of new services, or changes in applicable European (Directive 2002/58/EC) and Bulgarian regulatory acts. The current and valid version of the document is always made publicly available on this page of the Site.
- 5.2. For all technical and legal questions regarding the use of cookies, the exercise of data subject rights, and technical information processing, the user may contact the data controller at any time by sending an official request via email to: contact@rentalistic.com.
